More Than Information—A Journey of Transformation
Often books are written from a purely theological perspective with a view to informing the reader. This book Born To Be written by Dewald Koch is different because it arises from the experiences of someone who has travelled far and experienced many situations both pleasant and also painful.
There is a progression as you move chapter by chapter and the reflections at the end of each chapter are really useful.
It’s the sort of book that needs to be read chapter by chapter and then reflected on. The issue of our identity in Christ is highlighted throughout the book. There are many books written about victorious Christian living. The difference with this book is the encouragement to live from the victory that Christ achieved for us at Calvary.
Though the book reflects the author’s personal journey, it’s not about him but about Jesus and the difference He makes. The focus is not information, but ultimately transformation.
Many Christians go through dark times and periods of brokenness and there is a real pastoral heart and intent in the book to help people rebuild from brokenness.
This book is the first in a trilogy and one anticipates with expectation the publishing of the next two. It is not a long book, but should be read reflectively, to derive maximum benefit.
Like all books there may not be complete theological compatibility with all the writer’s views but this is a beneficial read.
This is a very useful book and for preachers it might form the genesis of a series related to identity and rebuilding broken worlds.
